Bailey Glasser partner Sharon F. Iskra was quoted in The Baltimore Sun in an article titled “‘Monstrous’: Ex-DJS worker sentenced after 18 years of child sexual abuse.” The article analyzes the sentencing of former Maryland juvenile detention employee Ronald Neverdon and the ongoing civil litigation involving survivors of his abuse.
On September 29, Neverdon was sentenced to serve ten years in prison after pleading guilty to 11 counts of child sexual abuse. He held supervisory positions at the Charles H. Hickey Jr. School in Baltimore County, where prosecutors said he exploited his authority over children entrusted to the facility’s care.
Sharon is part of a Bailey Glasser litigation team representing multiple claimants in civil cases involving Neverdon. Asked by The Sun whether the criminal sentence delivered justice, Sharon responded: “It’s a good start.” She also explained that the related lawsuits were in discovery and that Neverdon would probably be questioned under oath before the end of the year. Her record includes serving as lead counsel in securing a $3.5 million jury verdict for two children with developmental disabilities who suffered abuse and neglect at a West Virginia residential facility. That work earned the team a 2022 National Law Journal Elite Trial Lawyers award in Disability Rights.
Sharon regularly publishes articles and speaks at conferences about her passion for fighting for clients who have been abused. She spoke earlier this year at the West Virginia Association for Justice 2026 Mid-Winter Convention & Seminar.
